Christopher Alexander was awarded the inaugural Athena Legacy Medal, by the Congress for New Urbanism (CNU), recognizing the pioneers who laid the groundwork for the movement of New Urbanism. It was in 2006 that CNU started a new tradition of lifetime achievement awards, the Athena Legacy medals, and the first recipients were Christopher Alexander and Leon Krier.
