Berkeley Civic Center Expansion Schematic Design: Recommendations for the Future of the Berkeley Civic Center
01/01/1970The design proposal included the following fifteen categories of recommendations: 1. Budget and square foot estimates; 2. Parking; 3. Building height; 4. Department and divisions; 5. Court House; 6. Counsil Chamber; 7. Open space; 8. Building shape; 9. Future expansion after 1975; 10. Major circulation within the site; 11. Main entrances; 12. Stairs and elevators; 13. Workspaces; 14. Department entrances, counters and waiting; 15. Meeting rooms. The above was based on three assumptions: a. Buildings that will remain intact and buildings to be demolished; b. Activities and functions of departments that will be reorganized or relocated; c. All departments will remain in the block.
