01/03/1997 to 04/03/1997A meeting between the Center for Environmental Structure Computing, represented by Christopher Alexander, Greg Brian and John Seamster, and Sun Microsystems represented by its co-founder Bill Joy and Mike Clary. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the development and business plan of a new computer tool “Gatemaker”, initiated by CES, presented at the meeting and tried by its participants, as well as to explore potentials for further development of tools based on patterns. Exchange of ideas for the formation of a ‘Pattern Consortium’ did not advance enough to concrete schemes .
