Addressing the general subject of coordination, as the fifth of the subjects outlined in the beginning, which includes the need for purely geometric and functional coordination. The need for geometric coordination emanates from the observation that different patterns may turn out to be geometrically incompatible. Degrees of incompatibility, higher order patterns and composite patterns are introduced, and clarified with examples.
