The Campus of Eishin- High School: Great Hall interior plasterwork in color – Photographs

01/01/1987
Interior View

Four photos, the first shot in 1984 and the last in 1987, which show “wholeness in the making”. In the first two we see the unpainted Great Hall interior as finished in 1985, when the shape of columns, capitals and beams was completed. The third photo shows the still unpainted structures covered in painted paper, to try different experiments and determine the best combinations of colors and patterns for the hall interior. In the last photo, from 1987, the final plastering was done in black, highly poloshed shikkui, with red chevrons on the column shafts and a red emblem on the capitals. The floral frieze above the capitals is, at the time of the photograph, a full-scale painting, on paper, awaiting the final plaster work. The last photo is by Ruth Landy.
They were exhibited at the 14th International Architecture Biennale Exhibition: “Office US”.
