Berryessa Terraced House: Foundation perimeter beam, slab and retaining walls formwork – Photographs

01/07/1981
Layout Process on Site, Construction Process

Seven views from the construction process of the foundation formwork, and specifically nailing the top board of the ground floor slab on metal stakes, and hamemering the stakes into the ground until the proper level was reached. A design decision was made at that point to define the ground floor level of the main volumes of the house, in relationship to the slopes and in relationship to each other, incorporating at the same time the maximum benefit from the views between trees. The images are from the living room and kitchen volume, from the studio volume and its relationship to the small entrance volume, and from the entrance volume strongly skewed, due to existing trees and land slope.
