Exhibition titled “The Mexicali Experimental Project”
09/11/2024 to 15/02/2025The exhibition presented the Mexicali project, built in 1975-76, and highlighted the early explorations of self-built social housing, as reflected by Alexander’s theories and thinking. It included new commissions with artists Pastizal Zamudio and Cynthia Hooper, and architects Marcel Sanchez and Adrianna Cuellar, in addition to original photographic archives. The publication of “Insite Journal_07: A Timeless Way to Build” was launched at the exhibit by Dorit Fromm and Andrea Torreblanca; it followed by a conversation with Judith Barry, Thom Mayne and Ginger Nolan, exploring architectural thinking and experimentaion in the 1970’s under the title “Unmaking the Grid”.
