Building Process Area of Emphasis: Intergrated Design Studio -Samarkand – Revitalization of the Inner City

Spring 1991

Design studio on the international competition for the inner city of Samarkand. The fundamental idea underlying the work was to seek proposals for a cultural center in the historic city, which would re-establish the life, coherence and positive shape of its public spaces. The aim was to integrated the uses and functions of the city center and propose a city form, which has positive urban spaces and the qualities of a unified whole.
