Master Plan for the University of Oregon: Sketches – Pattern “Department Hearth”

Sketch illustrating the concept of “department hearth” located in the center of gravity of a department’s offices and beside a path that everyone uses. A “hearth”, by providing space for various activities like a lounge, department mail, coffee, supplies, library, student information etc., will aid the strengthening of social interaction and will create possibilities of open exchange of ideas.
