Frankfurt Parkstadt Housing Project

1995 to 1996
Hoechst, Frankfurt, Germany
Residential, Designed , Not built
The Frankfurt Parkstadt Unterliederbach project included the development of a new urban neighborhood in a landscaped setting, for Hoechst Pharmaceutical in Frankfurt West, close to the international airport and the river Main, a housing project both for Hoechst employees and for the open market. The project consisted of 10 different housing projects for 3.000 people, designed by 10 different national and international architects. The 10 architectural firms cooperated and worked together based on a flexible masterplan provided by Berghof, Landes, Rang. In this project, C.E.S. and H.N.A. formed one architecture team for designing Building Area 7. Building Area 7 consisted of 2-4 story buildings, on a 5-acre site in five building complexes. The urban design asked for several important design aspects including landscape, street design and urban design, as well as numerous aspects of micro-urbanism details, such as a gate connection to the exterior and the light rail station, as well as arcade designs. Engineering innovations in servicing structure and in the use of new type of brick-concrete structural superstructure rounds out the picture. .
