One of the main topics of research, included in every building project, was to identify, early on in the design process, the material and techniques of construction. This would re-establish building as an art, and allow rapid shaping and adaptation, using new techniques that were machine-assisted, computer-assisted, and highly flexible so that the shaping could be controlled by human hands and human thought without massive and expensive investment in human labor. The construction innovations included modern techniques for new types on masonry wall, new types of vault, new types of wood structure, roof structure and roof surfaces, new types of cabinets and furniture, structural inventions, innovations in block fabrication and various construction innovations.
