Locus Manifesto-exposition: CES presented the use of mock-ups for making accurate design and construction decisions, as applied for the exterior wall cladding with hand-glazed tilework, in the Shelter for the Homeless
30/05/2014Five boards in Science Cabinet #1 of the exhibit illustrated the concept of ‘Order-creating process’. The boards include a mixture of tile pattern sketches, photographs of full scale mock-ups, as well as photographs of the final version of the tiles used and the finished building.
Visual & Audio Material:
- 1) Initial sketch for the tile pattern
- 2) Three of the many mock-ups made out of painted cardboard or actual tile, for testing shape, size and color of the pattern
- 3) Two of the alternative sketches and one of the colored cardboard mock-ups for the tiles
- 4) One more sketch and the finished building with the tile-cladded 2nd floor walls
- 5) Mock-up with actual glazed tiles depicting the final pattern selected to be used for cladding the walls
