Six sequential sketches by Christopher Alexander which show the design unfolding through the formation of centers at each step.

  • 2) Conceiving two courtyards in relation to the curved site boundary
  • 3) Getting shape of building from the street curve with dining hall as major center
  • 4) Emphasizing dining hall through shape & position it as stong center
  • 5) Forming interior arcade as strong center
