Julian Street Inn – Shelter for the Homeless

Design and construction of a shelter for homeless people, to serve 50 to 100 people, on a site of 13,000 sf. The building of 15,000 square feet includes offices, living areas with a dining hall, sleeping rooms, courtyards and gardens. The design gave emphasis on the dignity of the homeless people, and the effort to give them a "home". Building was designed with major participation of the clients and members of the homeless community. Concrete columns and beams, open lacework trusses, heavy timber beams and ceiling, interiors plaster, exterior terracotta tiles with glazed green inserts, and decorative tiles.
